In India and surrounding countries, chai recipes vary by region and household with every family claiming theirs is unique; this blend spotlights five classic ingredients ~ Cinnamon, Cardamom, Ginger, Clove, and Black Pepper.

Brewed, it yields a deep amber cup with vivid aroma. The taste is warming and layered: sweet spice from Cinnamon and Clove, Cardamom’s citrusy lift, Ginger heat, and a peppery finish ~ naturally caffeine-free. Enjoy straight, or with milk and coconut sugar as we do at home.

Ingredients

Organic Cinnamon (Cinnamomum loureiroi), Organic Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Organic Black Pepper (Piper nigrum), Organic Clove Buds (Syzygium aromaticum), Organic Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum)

Directions

Use spring or filtered water. Good water is an essential part of brewing a great cup of tea.

Relax. Some of the most enjoyable aspects of tea are the calmness and ritual that surround it. Take some time for tea! 

Quick Brew Directions: Pour freshly boiled water over tea bags in your mug, cover, and let steep 3 to 5 minutes to taste. 

Traditional Chai Directions: For each cup of chai you’re making, add one tea bag, 1/4 cup of milk, 2/3 cup of water, and a small amount of sugar to a saucepan. Bring just to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3-8 minutes, until the spices bloom to your liking. The fat in the milk is magical ~ coaxing out certain notes from the cardamom. Remove tea bags and serve with pride in warm mugs. Best enjoyed with friends.
