Description
Holy Basil is known also as Tulsi ~ it’s a multi-branched shrub with strongly scented purple-green leaves. It’s closely related to the Genovese Basil usually associated with Italian cuisine, but with some special differences like shade and aroma. There are many varieties of Tulsi used in different ways, and for different reasons. This Krishna Tulsi is also called Shyama Tulsi in India and is important in the Hindu religion, where it has been adopted into spiritual rituals.
Krishna Tulsi has a strong aroma with a peppery and refreshing taste. It feels cooling, much like peppermint, and makes an equally refreshing tea when iced in the hot summer, or to warm up in the chill of winter.
