Chaste tree is a Mediterranean native; a shrub that produces dark purple berries about the size of peppercorns with a scent and flavour that is aromatic and pepper-like (pungent, warm and stimulating).

Reportedly, monks carried the leaves and berries in their pockets to aid in vows of chastity, earning it the name 'Monk's pepper' and the latin name translates to 'Chaste Lamb'. Most herbalists refer to this herb as Vitex.

Traditionally this was a popular herb amongst women who made teas and tinctures. Today, it's treasured by herbalists.
