Description
White willow (Salix Alba) is a tree native to Europe and Asia; the genus Salix is thought to be derived from Celtics, meaning 'near water' - most willows can be found near streams or moist areas. They all bear long green leaves and are known to start new trees when branches are stuck in the soil. The bark of the tree is harvested in the spring when it can be taken from trees without removing the inner bark. We recommend making this white willow bark into a tea or tincture. You'll find it tastes bitter and astringent - and can be improved with a bit of honey; the bitterness is a sign of quality.
