Description
A member of the asparagus family, Shatavvari thrives in tropical parts of India and Asia. This woody perennial grows in shady areas at a low altitude. In Sanskrit, its name means "plant with the hundred roots" as one Shatavari plant can produce up to 100 tubers.
Shatavari root is a staple ingredient in Ayurveda. Brewed into a tea, it creates an earthy, slightly sweet beverage often enjoyed with milk, ghee, and honey. For topical uses, the root can be made into a paste and applied as a face mask to promote youthful looking skin.
